Event Description: C.A.T. Walk & Fun Run – A walk with a mission! Now in its 14th year, this 5K walk/run event is a testament to the greater Hillsboro community’s resolve to help fight all forms of cancer. This annual family friendly event is a prelude to the largest 4th of July parade in Oregon (the famous Hillsboro Rotary Parade). Participants will enjoy three events—a Kids’ Dash, timed 5K walk/run, and a health fair. The Tuality Healthcare Foundation is excited to announce that we have once again teamed up with AA Sports, Ltd. to bring the MYLAPS “Chip on the Bib” Timing System to the 2014 C.A.T. Walk and Fun Run. The “Chip on the Bib” Timing System allows for real time, accurate race results. Race results will be available immediately upon completion of the race. Official results will be available on-line following the race. When and Where Friday, July 4, 2014, starting and finishing on Main Street in front of the Hillsboro Civic Center Plaza. Schedule of Events 6:30 a.m. On-site registration and pre-registered check-in. Kids' Zone opens. Cancer Awareness Health Fair opens. 7:30 a.m. Registration closes. One-block Kids' Dash begins (ages 3 to 11, must be registered for event.) 7:45 a.m. Cancer survivor photo taken on the steps of the Hillsboro Civic Center Plaza. 8:00 a.m. 14th Annual C.A.T. Walk & Fun Run begins. 10:00 a.m. Event concludes and parade begins. All participants are invited to enjoy the Hillsboro Rotary 4th of July Parade. Kids' Zone closes. Cancer Awareness Health Fair closes. The Course The 5K (3.1 mile) course winds through the streets of downtown Hillsboro. Participants will also get a premiere view of the staging areas for the 4th of July Parade. Celebrate and Commemorate Lives Touched By Cancer Participants are invited to recognize the special people in their lives who have been touched by cancer. Tribute badges will be available for everyone to write the name of the person you are walking in memory or honor of and display it on your shirt during the walk. There will also be a tribute banner that participants may sign that will be walked in the Hillsboro Rotary 4th of July Parade. Health Fair Come learn about cutting-edge cancer treatments, services, healthy living and meet a few of our sponsors. Safety Participants are allowed to bring wheel chairs, strollers, child-carrier backpacks, and baby joggers. In-line skates, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, and roller skates are prohibited. Please be courteous to others and leave your pets at home. Transportation and Parking •Ride the MAX train to the Hatfield Government Center or the Hillsboro Central/Transit Center. Both stations are only a couple blocks from the start/finish of the event. •All trips are wheelchair accessible. •Visit trimet.org or call 503-238-RIDE for schedules and more information. •Parking for the C.A.T. Walk & Fun Run is first come, first served. Participant parking will be available at the parking garage located on SE 1st Ave. and SE Washington.
