The essential plot elements are all there (Noah, evil, boat, animals, flood), but in this telling it is the individual characters, rather than the storm, that bring the story to life. No wooden saint, Noah is portrayed as just, fair, and ethical – but also as a consummate cheese maker and a darned fine mayor. His wife, children, friends and neighbors are regular folks, not cardboard Biblical caricatures. Sam, the proprietor of “Sam’s Seed ‘n Feed,” evokes more of Andy Griffith’s Mayberry than Charlton Heston in The Ten Commandments. Supported by a generous grant from HACC.
