The Association Promoting Quality Rental Housing

About us

Founded in 1992, the Metro Multifamily Housing Association (MMHA) was created to represent residential property managers, owners, and vendors throughout Portland, Southern Washington, and down through the Willamette Valley to Medford. Our members manage over 200,000 units in these areas and represent every service related to the industry. In 2013, Metro Multifamily Housing Association became Multifamily NW to better reflect our diverse membership and affiliations. Multifamily NW is committed to promoting a high degree of professionalism for rental housing providers, owners and partners. We sponsor educational courses, deliver the most comprehensively reviewed set of forms in the state, and advocate to local and state governments on behalf of the industry to ensure our members the best operating environment possible.

Should Metro explore buying up existing apartments as a way to fix the region's low-income housing problem? Gary Fisher, Executive Director of Multifamily NW spoke with the Willamette Week's Sophie Peel, “Apartment sales are at record lows—and if Metro sees an opportunity to get more people into supportive housing faster, they should take it. With permitting times lagging around the Portland metro region and development costs soaring, it certainly seems like purchasing existing units is a more efficient use of taxpayer resources.” What are your thoughts? How are we doing on meeting Governor Kotek's housing goals? The editorial board at Bend's The Bulletin would like to know.   Governor Kotek set a goal of building 36,000 homes a year for the next 10 years, but only about 20,000 homes have been built a year across Oregon. If we are going to address homelessness, new units are a critical piece of the puzzle.   https://lnkd.in/gqzhUNhy #orhousing
